Access and Settings
Everything is set in Scene Cut > Settings > AI.
Included AI
With an activated Scene Cut license (or an activation code), the AI works with nothing to configure: no account to create, no key to provide. The AI tab shows AI included with your license.
Usage is limited to 200 requests per day per license. One request is one rewrite, one review batch (50 subtitles), one translation or spelling batch (20 subtitles), or one rebalanced group.
The Test button checks in a few seconds that everything responds.
Using Your Own Key
The Use my own key instead option sends requests through a provider of your choice, with your own key. This is useful to go beyond the daily limit, to pick a specific model, or to work with a model installed on your Mac.
| Provider | Note |
|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude) | Claude Sonnet 5.5 (recommended) or Haiku 5.5 (economical) |
| OpenAI | |
| Mistral | |
| Groq | |
| OpenRouter | access to many models with a single key |
| Ollama (local) | model installed on the Mac, no key and no outside connection |
| Custom | any compatible service, with its address and model |
After pasting the key: Save, then Test. The key is stored in the macOS Keychain.
What Data Is Sent?
Only the text of the subtitles involved is sent, with their duration and a few neighboring subtitles for context. Video, audio, and the project file never leave your Mac.
- With the included AI, requests go through a Scene Cut relay that checks the license, without keeping the text.
- With a personal key, they go straight to the chosen provider.
- With Ollama, nothing leaves your machine.
Outside the AI tools, Scene Cut works fully offline.
